Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 5, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information FiRemote ("the app," "we," "us") collects, how it's used, and what stays on your device. The app is developed by Alpha Markhor, an independent individual developer.
The short version: The app controls your Fire TV device directly over your own local Wi-Fi network. Voice audio and cast photos/videos go straight from your phone to your Fire TV device, never to our servers. We don't run ads, we don't sell data, and we don't ask you to create an account. The only things that leave your device are anonymous crash reports (so we can fix bugs) and purchase/subscription status (so we can unlock what you paid for).
Information We Collect
Information you provide directly
If you email us for support or feedback, we receive whatever you choose to include in that email (your address, and anything you write). We use it only to respond to you.
Crash and diagnostic data
The app uses Sentry to automatically report crashes and errors, so we can find and fix bugs. This can include your device model, OS version, app version, a stack trace of what went wrong, a short trail of what happened in the app leading up to it, the same anonymous identifier described below for subscription status, and a label showing whether that identifier currently has an active subscription. We never link any of it to your name, email, or any account, since the app doesn't have one.
Purchase and subscription data
The app's optional subscription (voice search and photo/video casting) is sold and billed entirely through Google Play Billing. We never see or store your payment details (card number, billing address, and so on). We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status: it receives your purchase receipt from Google Play and an anonymous, app-generated identifier to determine whether your subscription is active. That same identifier is also attached to crash reports (see above), so we can tell whether a crash affected a subscriber without linking either to your name or email.
Device Permissions and Local-Only Data
These features send data directly between your phone and your own Fire TV device, over your own local network. None of it passes through our servers.
| Permission / Feature | What it's for |
|---|---|
| Microphone | The app only accesses the microphone while you're pressing and holding the voice-search button. That audio is used solely to send your voice command to your Fire TV device over your local network. It's not sent to our servers, and we don't use it for anything else. |
| Wi-Fi / local network | Used to find your Fire TV device on your network and to send it remote-control commands. |
| Photos and videos | Used to show your photo/video library inside the app's Casting feature so you can browse and pick a file. Whatever you pick is then served directly to your Fire TV device over your local network, not uploaded anywhere. |
| Local app storage | The app saves your last-connected device, connection mode, remote layout, and similar preferences only in its private storage on your phone. Uninstalling the app or using its in-app unlink option clears this. |
How We Use Information
- To provide and maintain the app's features.
- To diagnose and fix crashes and bugs.
- To verify and manage your subscription entitlement.
- To respond to support requests you send us.
We do not use your information for advertising. The app shows no ads and includes no ad SDKs.
Third-Party Services
The app relies on the following third-party services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Play Billing: payment processing for subscriptions.
- RevenueCat: subscription status management.
- Sentry: crash and error reporting.
These services are based in, or operate servers in, countries other than your own (including the United States), so using the app can mean your information is processed outside the country you're in. Each service is responsible for protecting data under its own privacy policy, linked above.
Data Sharing and Sale
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with the service providers listed above, only as needed for them to perform the function described, and only under their own privacy commitments. We may also disclose information if required to do so by law, such as in response to a valid court order, subpoena, or government request.
Data Retention
Local device data (paired devices, preferences) stays on your phone until you clear it or uninstall the app. Sentry and RevenueCat retain crash reports and purchase records, respectively, following their own retention policies, for as long as reasonably needed to diagnose issues or maintain your subscription history.
Your Choices and Rights
- Revoke the microphone or photo/video permission at any time in your phone's system settings. The affected features will simply stop working.
- Unlink a paired Fire TV device from the app's Settings screen to clear its locally stored info.
- Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
- Contact us (below) to request deletion of any crash or purchase data tied to you, subject to what our service providers can identify and remove.
Children's Privacy
The app is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
We rely on the security practices of the platforms and services above (Google Play, Sentry, RevenueCat) and on your own device's operating system. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we don't collect more than what's described here.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do, and for any significant change, we'll do what we reasonably can to make it noticeable (for example, a note on this page or in the app itself). Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
